introduction to Rope Rescue (5 days)

The Introduction to Rope Rescue program covers the skills required to perform basic rope rescues on slopes and in the vertical environment.  This program covers the skills defined in the NFPA 1006 for a Level I Technician.


Prerequisites: None

Minimum class size: 5

Maximum class size: 10

advanced Rope Rescue (5 days)

This program covers all of the skills defined in the NFPA 1006 for a Level II Technician, which includes the use of pick-off techniques and high line systems.


Prerequisites: Introduction to rope rescue

Minimum class size: 5

Maximum class size: 10

Rope Rescue team leader (5 days)

This program focuses on the skills required to manage rope rescue incidents, with a focus on team safety and efficiency.

Minimum class size: 5

Maximum class size: 10

There are numerous rope rescue disciplines.  Although there are some differences between the various disciplines, there are far more similarities.  For example, a figure 8 on a bight is the same knot regardless of which discipline it is used in.  Because of this, the Introduction to Rope Rescue is a valid starting point for anyone starting their career in the rescue service.  It is also appropriate for consolidating the skills of existing Emergency Response Teams.
